Firewood Calculator
This is stacked (with air gaps), the unit firewood is usually sold by.
How much firewood is in a stack?
Firewood is usually sold by the cubic metre (or the loose or bulk bag), so knowing the volume of a stack tells you whether a load is what you paid for. Enter the length and height of the stacked wood and the log length as the depth, and the calculator gives the stacked volume in cubic metres and cubic feet. Stacked volume includes the air gaps between logs, which is the standard way seasoned firewood is measured and sold.
A loose, tipped load takes up more space than the same wood neatly stacked, so compare like for like. Well seasoned hardwood should be below 20% moisture, which you can check with a cheap moisture meter for a fraction of the cost of a load.
